A Unique History and Defining Mandate

Established in October 2009 as part of the settlement of an investigation by New York State into conflicts of interest involving the adjudication of claims, FAIR Health was formed to create a conflict-free, trusted and transparent source of data to support claims adjudication and to meet the healthcare cost and utilization information needs of all participants in the healthcare community. Our mission is to supply reliable information for all stakeholders to improve healthcare quality, access and affordability. In fulfilling this mission, we make available:

• Products and custom analytics that leverage a robust, independent database of private healthcare insurance claims information contributed by payors and third party administrators nationwide;
• A free website (FAIR Health Consumer) and mobile app (FH^® Consumer Classroom), in English and Spanish, designed to educate consumers about the cost of care in their geographic areas and insurance reimbursement; and
• Data for research that can help to formulate or evaluate policy and support academic studies.
