Department of Veterans Affairs Awards Fee Schedule Engagement to FAIR Health

After a competitive bidding process, the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) awarded FAIR Health a contract with the potential to run five years to support the development of medical and dental fee schedules. The fee schedules will assist with payment of private sector providers when veterans obtain healthcare services through the community care program.

The new engagement grows out of previous work FAIR Health has done for VA. In the past, VA has licensed a number of FAIR Health charge benchmark modules and their companion allowed products. VA staff used the benchmark data to assist their fee schedule work.

The new contract builds on VA’s confidence in FAIR Health’s benchmark data and also on the vast experience FAIR Health has in helping government agencies develop fee schedules, including workers’ compensation agencies in numerous states. In addition, FAIR Health has become increasingly known for its work providing analytics to federal agencies, such as the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the Employee Benefits Security Administration, the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission and the Government Accountability Office.

FAIR Health always customizes the process of supporting fee schedule development for each client in furtherance of their respective priorities. To support the development of fee schedules for VA, FAIR Health is meeting with VA on a recurring basis, to understand its goals and suggest a path forward. FAIR Health has delivered the first round of dental fee schedules and is looking forward to working with the medical team at VA.
