FAIR Health to Help Develop New Hampshire Vocational Rehabilitation Fee Schedule

July 18, 2019

Following a competitive bidding process, the State of New Hampshire selected FAIR Health to help develop and publish a schedule of reasonable reimbursement fees for the New Hampshire Department of Education Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation (NHVR). NHVR provides rehabilitation services to New Hampshire citizens with disabilities, with the goal of enabling them to secure employment as well as financial and personal independence.

FAIR Health will assist NHVR in developing its fee schedule by providing benchmark values that reflect the market in New Hampshire for thousands of healthcare services. With FAIR Health’s support, NHVR will implement a fee schedule to assist it in determining payments for healthcare services provided to New Hampshire citizens who have disabilities. The range of benchmarks FAIR Health provides will reflect the spectrum of charges for professional services, anesthesia, dental, outpatient facility, durable medical equipment, injectable drugs, ambulance transportation and inpatient facility services.

FAIR Health President Robin Gelburd commented: “FAIR Health, with our database of over 29 billion private healthcare claim records, including 95 million claim records for services performed in New Hampshire, is both delighted and uniquely qualified to assist NHVR in establishing its fee schedule.”

New Hampshire Department of Education Commissioner Frank Edelblut stated: “We are excited to work with FAIR Health to update the fee schedule for Granite Staters with disabilities. Setting fair prices for healthcare services will help New Hampshire VR customers with disabilities and ensure New Hampshire taxpayers are getting a fair deal.”

The experienced team at FAIR Health is already working with a number of states on engagements for other types of fee schedules, including workers’ compensation. FAIR Health has been assisting Georgia and Kentucky for many years in updating their workers’ compensation fee schedules. In addition, FAIR Health worked with the Mississippi Workers’ Compensation Commission on its 2019 fee schedule, which was released in June, and is assisting the Colorado Division of Workers’ Compensation with its 2020 fee schedule.
